Quality, Quality and Quality

Through the article of Damien Hirst read on the train ended the fantastic learning journey today, from lecture of Cameron, Michael Wolff and Damien Hirst, what the interesting thing happened is they all mention to " QUALITY " for brand and product. First, Cameron says " Quality is king ". To change reputation can through high light quality of brand, of product. Communication through shift, change or alternate to deliver quality, take whiskey bottle for example, the one was heavy and dark, redesign it to be taller, elegant shape and simplified the logo and tag. When it rows in the supermarket, it looks outstanding. People see it will say " Should we try it? because it looks nice." The other example is a brand of water-10 degree delivers detail information-perfect temperature to drink water, creating a sense like certain nobby to have it. Second, Michael talks about when he visit a company, he will have a look at the toilet. From tiny detail you can see the quality. What's more, he presents, what experience you want people to take from you? to remember you? You know how make people feel about you. When it comes to Damien, on the Diamond Skull, everybody was encouraging him to save money. They were asking, " Do you want the diamonds to go to inside the nose? And Shall we use cheap diamonds underneath? " And he was answering, " No, you can't. It's all 100 per cent, all perfect."

Reflection: everything we create, we deliver, we have to look at and think about "Quality". People buy quality.

Crafts Lecture

Today we had a lecture in UCA Farnham campus, study crafts centre, through professor Simon Olding and curator Sara Robots. The gallery exhibits mainly in craft works, small but elegant, it's a wonderful experience to have a lesson in gallery and two weeks ago our lesson conducted through International Gallery-National Gallery, Tate Modern, national gallery-Tate Britain and Commercial galleries in Central London. Compare with national galleries, this lovely galley located outside London is tranquil and academic, so we are curious how the gallery survives? Simon explains the funding comes from charging programme, providing service from university, UCA. Second,  publishing books which are related to crafts or fabric. Besides, the gift shop offers exquisite crafts, cards and books. Many people buy them to be a present. Making ' high quality ' and ' interesting ' to draw attention from visitors to come here, those people get fantastic experience and visit again. During the break time, some cookies, coffee and tea offered, not only got an energy but good memory. However, this makes me to keep the idea in my future gallery or exhibition, the refreshment is nothing but can win people's heart. (March 2012)
