Crafts Lecture

Today we had a lecture in UCA Farnham campus, study crafts centre, through professor Simon Olding and curator Sara Robots. The gallery exhibits mainly in craft works, small but elegant, it's a wonderful experience to have a lesson in gallery and two weeks ago our lesson conducted through International Gallery-National Gallery, Tate Modern, national gallery-Tate Britain and Commercial galleries in Central London. Compare with national galleries, this lovely galley located outside London is tranquil and academic, so we are curious how the gallery survives? Simon explains the funding comes from charging programme, providing service from university, UCA. Second,  publishing books which are related to crafts or fabric. Besides, the gift shop offers exquisite crafts, cards and books. Many people buy them to be a present. Making ' high quality ' and ' interesting ' to draw attention from visitors to come here, those people get fantastic experience and visit again. During the break time, some cookies, coffee and tea offered, not only got an energy but good memory. However, this makes me to keep the idea in my future gallery or exhibition, the refreshment is nothing but can win people's heart. (March 2012)
